Deborah is the founder of the company.
She got fed up with noticing typos in restaurant menus all over North
America, and decided to do something about it. She is a food aficionada
who takes her words seriously. Preferred cuisines include French and
Italian, and Pacific Northwest/Asian fusion. Deborah is the proud owner
of a burgeoning cookbook and cooking reference collection, and she
practices what she
preaches. She has eaten in fabulous restaurants from Vancouver to
Philadelphia, Montréal to Paris, Los Angeles to London. Her
education in fine dining began with Crêpes Suzette at
the age of five. A self-described word-geek, trivia queen
and slave to foie gras, Deborah has a Bachelor of Arts in
English from McGill University (1988), and a Certificate in Web
Publishing from
Simon Fraser University's Writing and Publishing program (2004). She
has studied French,
Spanish, and German, and can sing in Italian. She has more than 20
years' experience in legal and engineering administrative support,
which naturally includes writing, editing and proofreading. Deborah hopes to wrest menus (and
restaurant websites) from the
mistake-ridden hell in which they often reside, one restaurant at a
time. She is also willing and able to provide equally skillful, more
conventional, content-related help. Recent accomplishments include
editing and assembling newsletters; editing critical business
correspondence for a client whose first language was not English;
review and correction of website and menu copy for a popular Vancouver
restaurant; and taking a "first read" of a very interesting novel which is now available in paperback or e-book. |
